The Butcher's Son is one of the best local butcher shops in midtown, located just south of the bustling Yonge and Eglinton intersection on Yonge Street at Manor Road East. The shop is run by Matthew Kumphrey who — you guessed it — is the son of a butcher. Kumphrey teamed up with executive chef Vito Rizzuto of 5 Doors North to open a local butcher shop and pantry in midtown. The Butcher's Son specializes in offering meats that are naturally raised, hormone-free and antibiotic-free. The goal of the butcher shop is to provide its local community with high quality, traditionally raised, local and specialty cuts of meat so they don't have to resort to getting their meat at their local big box grocery stores. Apart from the meats, there are some other specialty items that stock the pantry side of the business such as authentic tomato sauce, dry rubs, soups, marinades and even some freshly baked focaccia. Customers can also find a selection of prepared meals that are on offer when the chef is in. Meat offerings include rib eyes, short rib burgers with a smoked cheddar and pepper crust, house-made sausages, turkey burgers, pork chops, top sirloins, rib steaks and so much more.
