Find the finest cuts of meat, luxurious burgers, lobster rolls and Terroni’s iconic pizza and pasta all under the umbrellas at Stock Bar. At the corner of Yonge and Montgomery, Cosimo Mamolitti (Terroni) and Stephen Alexander (Cumbrae’s) have created a European-style street-level patio and an outdoor rooftop dining area that pair their personalities, backgrounds and the desires of Toronto diners into one bustling community space.
With artisan coffee, creative cocktails, an international wine list and a menu with all the hits, plus some new and welcome additions, Stock Bar is a destination for any and all occasions.
The Food
Mamolitti and Alexander’s collaborative effort is very present in the dishes they are serving up at Stock. You can find Terroni classics like Funghi Assoluti paired with a Stock burger or a 14oz dry-aged ribeye. You can also get fried calamari with, you guessed it, a side of their house-made pepperoncini mayo.
“We wanted to do a mix of Terroni (& Cumbrae’s) but not a complete Terroni menu. Steak frites, the lobster roll, we want to have a little of everything to make everybody happy,” said Mamolitti. The menu has a ton of options without being overwhelming. Old and new are mixed together in every section, with new pastas and pizzas, along with innovative appetizers and steakhouse-style sides. Stock’s menu is perfect for anything from a casual bite to a celebratory meal. Also, look out for Stock’s Sunday brunch menu coming soon.
Seared Steak Tartare ($19)
A spin on the bistro hit, this dish lies somewhere between a burger and a tartare. Seared on one side for some extra caramelization, this rich and silky tartare is served with gherkins, mustard and pumpernickel crostini.
Lobster & Shrimp Roll ($25)
With massive chunks of lobster and shrimp nestled in every bite, this dish is definitely worth the splurge. Creamy and tart with a little kick, this is a perfect patio nibble.
Pane e Acciughe ($16)
Featuring slices of sourdough bread toasted with fresh and tangy butter and salty briney anchovies, this dish is simple but packs so much flavour.
Beet Salad ($8)
This is the quintessential beet salad. A sizable portion of tender beets, dolloped with fresh whipped ricotta, you really can’t go wrong with this one.
Ravioloni All’Uovo ($26)
This show-stopping pasta is a must-order. Rich ricotta and spinach-filled raviolo are stuffed with an egg yolk and topped with a luscious sauce of butter Parmigiano and black truffle. Cut into the centre to find the perfect runny yolk dripping out and a truly Insta-worthy moment.
Mortadella e Pistacchio Pizza ($20)
This pizza is fresh, salty, crunchy, nutty — you name it. Mozzarella is baked onto Terroni’s iconic pizza dough and topped with ribbons of mortadella, toasted pistachios and a ball of fresh mozzarella di bufala drizzled with Terroni’s signature olive oil.
14oz Dry Aged Ribeye ($55) and Potato Pave ($9)
This stunning cut of Cumbrae’s aged beef is cooked to medium-rare and topped with flakey sea salt. Served with a Stock salad, this is the indulgence we all deserve after a long year at home. Layers of leek and potato create this buttery pave stacked high and topped with fresh parsley.
Banana Toffee Pie ($10)
Filled with real banana slices and ooey-gooey toffee and topped with a light whipped cream and chocolate shavings, this dessert will cap off any meal at Stock Bar with a bang.
The Drinks
Stock Bar’s cocktails are some of the more creative libations we’ve seen from the Terroni group. The cocktail list has been created to match the ‘on holiday’ vibes that the patio exudes. With refreshing, light and tart cocktails that are perfect to sip on a hot summer’s day, this cocktail menu is innovative without straying too far from the city’s most beloved bevies.
The wine list at Stock Bar is also killer. Working with Cavinona, Terroni’s wine agency and other agents in Toronto, Drew Innis, Stock’s in-house sommelier and wine director, has cultivated a rotating wine list that elevates Stock Bar’s food to new heights. As this is the first Terroni-affiliated restaurant to offer wine from France, Austria, Greece and beyond, the options available are top-notch and aim to please.
Palm Springs ($14)
The name says it all with this Cazadores Tequila-based cocktail. With Aperol, St. Germain, cucumber, lime juice and garnished with a cucumber twill and lemon zest, this cocktail is the ultimate accompaniment to a hot day (2.5 oz/ alc).
Stock Sour ($14)
Based off a classic bourbon sour, this Stock twist has Elijah Craig Bourbon with Nebbiolo Wine, lemon juice and comes garnished with a dehydrated orange slice (3 oz).
Oaxaca ($14)
Pretty-in-pink cocktail the Oaxaca is very deceiving. With a smokey hit from the mezcal, this Mexican-inspired cocktail packs a punch. It features Cazadores Tequila, Mezcal Sombra, Cointreau, hibiscus and lime juice, garnished with a salted rim and a white carnation (2.5 oz/ alc)
Graci Etna Rosso (5 oz glass $16)
This Sicilian Nerello Mascalese does all the talking. Pair it with anything from the butcher selections and prepare for pure bliss.
The Space
With three levels, two patios and multiple private dining spaces, Stock Bar is setting itself up to be the go-to spot for midtown dining. The rooftop garden patio has sweeping views of the city while feeling secluded enough from the high-rises. The terrace is inviting and spacious enough for guests to relax and enjoy the view.
Just inside from the rooftop bar, sits the Montgomery room. An ode to their historic building at Yonge and Montgomery, this space will function as a private dining room that can also be used during regular service. The whimsical lighting, statement bar, wicker and soft blue hues make this a homey yet chic space that carries through the vacation vibe of the entire upper level.
The ground floor terrace enclosed with lush greenery is reminiscent of an Italian piazza. This street-level patio is equipped with its own bar and will seat 100 for lunch and dinner service.
