Southern cooking is making its mark on the Junction at Roux. This hot spot for real down south comfort food is rooted in French-American techniques, emulating Creole cooking with chef Derrick Markland’s own modern twists. With comforting dishes like gumbo, hush puppies and fried chicken and waffles, this is not somewhere you want to go on a diet. The atmosphere here is cosy and warm, with that southern hospitality oozing from each member of the friendly staff. The menu is made for sharing with big platters, like the awesome charcuterie and Smoke It All Board, which has smoked back ribs, smoked andouille sausage and smoked barbecued chicken. This is the kind of place you want to show up with an appetite or a larger group of people because at Roux there is more than enough food to go around.
