Monte Wan of beloved Khao San Road is bringing Toronto more of Thai cuisine's greatest hits with Nana. Taken from the Thai word for “meeting place,” its communal tables and menu of street food–inspired small sharing dishes really hit the idea home. “Nana” can also mean “many,” which is seen through the multitude of influences that elevate Thai cuisine. For example, one of the most popular menu items is the khao soi with southern-inspired fried chicken. It’s a warm and hearty dish with a egg noodles in a golden curry coconut broth base; the juicy pieces of fried dark meat chicken and crispy skin are set atop; and its finished with green onions, cilantro, preserved mustard greens, bean sprouts, shallots and crispy egg noodles. Bangkok has never been this close before.
