Naan & Kabob
Toronto, ON M4Y 2B2
Naan & Kabob is a colourful Middle Eastern restaurant in downtown Toronto that specializes in Afghan cuisine. The founders are a family of immigrants from Afghanistan who followed the spice route, in honour of their ancestral merchants, all the way to Canada. The menu is made up of locally sourced ingredients; the meat is halal and raised without any added hormones or antibiotics; and the spices that flavour the food are brought to the fore of every dish. One menu favourite is the mantu — dumplings made by hand, stuffed with ground beef and sautéed onions, covered in a yogurt drizzle, split peas and more of the filling. Of course, there are a lot of kebab options. As was the case on the spice route, Toronto is a special place where people from all different backgrounds can gather together and share their cooking to create something new and inventive, making it the perfect city for Naan & Kabob to launch its mini chain.
