Emulating an uptown late night dessert spot, Luscious Desserts is Chinatown's number one spot for upscale Chinese desserts. Luscious Desserts is located a flight of stairs down from crowded Dundas Street West. The lower level is illuminated by exposed hanging lights and further brightened by the use of a light stained wood that lines the walls and covers the floor. Inspired by a Markham dessert joint, Luscious Desserts serves all your favourite Chinese sweets. The grass jelly is a particular hit, with large chunks of taro and a cute bottle of coconut milk for topping. They also serve some savoury items, including udon (in a couple styles), as well as some lighter appetizers, but the must-have is the massive Treasure Toast. For $13.99, you get a half loaf of honey bread, hollowed out and filled to the brim with ice cream, bananas, strawberries and mountains of whipped cream.
