About the Restaurant

A landmark in Toronto since the early 1960's, Joso's is owned and operated by Leo and Shirley Spralja and was founded by the famous Croatian painter, sculptor, and all around artist, Joso Spralja, whose works are immediately recognizable upon entering the restaurant. Over the years, Joso's has been the go-to spot for many celebrities, including Toronto's very own, Drake, who often frequents the spot when he's in town. A multi-sensory overload, the interior of Joso's is a reflection of Joso's own artโ€” every square inch of the intimate space features various voluptuous female sculptures, dazzling bejewelled trinkets, and beautiful art that pays tribute to the Adriatic Sea.

Those who have been to Croatia's Dalmatian coast will revel at the menu which offers a true Croatian culinary experience. Here, you'll find cuttlefish risotto, stained black from the squid's ink, along with an assortment of freshly-caught fish like grilled sardines done in garlic and olive oil, clams and mussels done in white wine and garlic, or savoury tomato sauce, and grilled whole octopus served with a simple yet delicious garnish of capers, olive oil, and garlic. While seafood is the star of the menu, there are plenty of pastas and risottos to choose from to start, as well as a series of Croatian side dishes, including blitva (grilled Swiss chard mixed with boiled potatoes), and fire-roasted red peppers drizzled in olive oil.
