One fateful night in 2011, after dining at Toronto Italian restaurant Buca, Jamie Oliver heaped praise on chef Rob Gentile, and now, with the help of King Street Kitchen (the company behind Buca), the first North American location of Jamie’s Italian has claimed its space in the thriving foodie mecca of Yorkdale mall. Jamie’s Italian is a family-style Italian restaurant focusing on “fresh, and sustainable ingredients and bold, simple flavours.” Enjoy a made-from-scratch, in-house pasta, like the fluffy potato gnocchi in a rich black truffle and mascarpone sauce with grated Parmigiano-Reggiano and shaved black truffle or an artisan pizza, like the vegetable pesto made with basil pesto and topped with zucchini, cherry tomatoes, sticky balsamic onions, mushrooms, fior di latte and Bella Lodi. There are exciting drink specials every night, and on long weekends kids eat for free!
