Dawn Chapman grew up eating the best the countryside had to offer. Her grandparents owned a farm in Midhurst, Ont., so for her, eating fresh, local, organic food was not something she talked about. It was simply a way of life. Now that she’s living in the city, she is planning a café that aims to show people that “the countryside is closer than you think.” Lazy Daisy's Café is a cute and warm space that might make you question whether you’re still in the city. From the cosy interior to the genuine care of the staff, this place has definitely got some country charm. The menu features farm-fresh, local and mostly organic foods. Homemade chilies and soups are staples here, as well as Lazy Daisy’s hearty sandwich of the week and wickedly delicious breakfast options. Chapman deals directly with farmers, and Lazy Daisy’s features a different farmer’s story every month, explaining where they’re located, where the food comes from and how they produce it. If that's not farm to table, I don’t know what is.
