College Falafel has been keeping west enders happy for some time now with its irresistible sandwiches and wraps, all complete with that trademark saccharine sauce. Hailing from Halifax the East Coast original donair wrap is something to marvel at here. The donair ($6.99) begins with a pile of well-spiced, shaved beef that's cooked on a spit then grilled. Toppings — which include options such as lettuce, tomato, beets, white onions and tabbouleh — are stuffed inside a fluffy pita along with the kicker: the sweet sauce. A heady blend of evaporated milk, vinegar, garlic and sugar makes for a sauce that's almost cloying but somehow manages to work. More than work, in fact. College Falafel's namesake sandwich is also a hit here, with a myriad of toppings and a medley of sauces to top these fried and crispy chickpea balls. Everything here is made from scratch and is totally the real deal.
