As the uber popular dessert branch of the Momofuku empire, Milk Bar Toronto boasts multiple locations in New York City, all of them supplied by the Milk Bar bakery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y. (where Toronto’s supply also comes from — it’s shipped in by UPS). The small shop, located on the second floor of Momofuku Toronto (above the noodle bar), stretches 6.5 feet by 12.5 feet, and only six to eight shoppers are allowed in at one time (it’s tight in there!). Those who make it inside can stock up on the famous Milk Bar Pie ($6 per slice), Compost Cookies ($2 each, 6 for $11 or 12 for $22) or cake truffles ($4 for a pack of three, $16 for a dozen). Inspired by the Funfetti rainbow birthday cake her mom used to make, Christina Tosi — Milk Bar Toronto’s chef and founder — summarizes the Timbit-sized wonders as a “guilty pleasure; what you do behind closed doors.” And they taste like your childhood in one bite.
