Boxcar Social is Summerhill's hip cafe and wine bar. The rustic interior is met with a millennial aesthetic. Wooden benches and dessert flower bouquets decorate the two-storey Victorian cafe. The old building hasn't been renovated since the Boxcar moved in in 2014. The minimal space downstairs has a few communal tables, while their upstairs hideaway is the perfect spot to warm up and get into a good book or catch up on some work. They also have a lively backyard patio that comes alive in the summertime. The vibe of Boxcar Social is just one element of this homey cafe.

Boxcar carries a number of wines by the bottle and by the glass, as well as tons of local craft beer options. They have a selection of espresso from around the globe that can be foamed up with a selection of dairy, non-dairy and nut milk. They also carry a number of pastries and baked goods that are delivered daily from Almond Butterfly, Blackbird Baking Co. and Butternut Baking Co.. Boxcar also has a selection of breakfast sammies, lunch sandwiches which are available after 11 a.m., and a collection of boards and snacks available after 6 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday.

This is the first outpost of Boxcar Social's now four locations in Toronto. They also have a location in Halifax. Boxcar is open from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Tuesday through Saturday, with early closures on Sunday and Monday.
