Toronto’s burger scene is buzzing with excitement: Shake Shack is coming to town, and and we finally know where it’s going to open.
Toronto residents have reason to celebrate as Shake Shack, famous for its mouthwatering burgers and iconic shakes, is gearing up to open its first Canadian location at The Tenor in downtown Toronto.
According to the Urban Toronto forum, Shake Shack has secured the former Adidas retail space at street level within The Tenor, encompassing over 7,300 square feet of prime real estate. Construction is slated to commence shortly, signaling the beginning of a new chapter for this prime location.
The Tenor will also house The Ballroom, featuring a local bowling concept, and the recently announced reopening of the Hard Rock Cafe. The Ballroom will occupy nearly 13,800 square feet on the third floor, while the Hard Rock Cafe will return with a 9,925 square foot restaurant on the fourth floor.
Shake Shack announced its Canadian expansion in 2023, aiming to open approximately 35 locations nationwide by 2035, highlighting its commitment to growth and innovation. The burger joint’s journey began as a humble hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in New York. Since its inception, it has evolved into a global sensation, beloved by celebrities like Kanye West, Chrissy Teigen, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Located at the crossroads of Yonge and Dundas Streets, The Tenor is a bustling hub for both locals and tourists alike. Drawing millions of visitors annually, the multi-level complex features miniature attractions, dining experiences, state-of-the-art movie theatres and specialty shops.
Though the exact opening date for Shake Shack remains a mystery, a teaser image posted on the Urban Toronto Forum suggests it’s “coming soon.” This hint indicates that you might get your hands on a ShackBurger sooner than expected.
