Philip Sparks — local fashion designer, modern dandy and other half of NOW Magazine’s Andrew Sardone — recently launched his very first trunk show at Smash in the Junction this week. Going strong since Wednesday (“we’ve been quite busy,” notes a sales associate), the carefully curated show will continue until Sept. 25, after which it will move to an as-of-yet undisclosed location.
Featuring key pieces from Sparks’ fall/winter 2011 collection, the space was created in collaboration with Smash owner Paul Mercer. In a press release, Sparks notes that as the show moves around town, he will continue to work with both “retailers and other creative partners who are inspired by the same vintage feel as our brand.”
Featuring looks for both men and women, our favourite pieces from the trunk show include the instantly-covetable army green jacket with an enormous shearling collar; a charming red, white and blue checkered dress; and a sharply tailored suit which will immediately lend the wearer a dapper air.
Sadly, we didn’t spot any of the maple-leaf print pieces, though we suppose that means we’ll just have to follow the show around till we do.
