The Rock ’n’ Roll Revival Hour: Metric, Caribou, Cold Specks, Jason Plumb, The Tragically...

0

If you haven’t heard yet, new wave rockers Metric will be releasing their latest studio album, Synthetica, on June 12.  That’s 6/12/12 — there must be some kind of astrological mojo at work. Here’s what guitarist Jimmy Shaw says about the new LP — the band’s fifth — in a press release: “[It’s] the culmination of everything we’ve done. We’ve always had a sound in our heads that we hoped to realize. We finally heard it coming back out of the speakers this time.”

Band of the Week: Japandroids

0

If you’re looking to tap into your inner dark side, these Vancouver rock gods are the the droids your looking for. Japandroids may only be made up of axe man Brian King and drummer David Prowse, but their sound is massive. Band of the Week: The Sheepdogs

0

The Sheepdogs will be jamming at a (top secret) backyard in Toronto tonight at what is probably the hippest charity event ever: Servestock. Every summer, to benefit at-risk youth, musicians and celebs perform at a private backyard party, the location of which is only revealed to ticket holders.

Band of the Week: School Damage

0

School Damage walk a well-beaten path in terms of method: light-speed guitar, punishing drums and bouncing bass are the backdrop for snotty lead vocals, angry lyrics and sugary-sweet harmonies. But sometimes there’s no point in trying to expand on something that’s been tried and tested. Guitar, drums, bass, attitude: there’s really not much room for improvement there. Throw in a decent hook and you’ve got the formula for the best songs of the last 70 years or so.

Rise and shine: Dina Pugliese on celeb gossip, Justin Bieber and being a morning...

0
When it comes to interviewing morning television hosts, there’s an unwritten rule in journalism. It goes like this: the writer asks the star how they manage to be so lively at 6 a.m., the star claims not to be a morning person, and jokes about caffeine addiction ensue.
