Ontario is apparently the second luckiest place to live in Canada

If you’ve been feeling down on your luck lately, good news — living in Ontario should help with that! A new study has ranked Ontario the second luckiest region in Canada to live in, second only to the Yukon. Maybe good things do grow in Ontario?

The study by online gambling site Lucky Days analysed seven factors to determine the luckiest place to live in the country, including average life expectancy, hourly wage, population growth in the last five years, unemployment rate and the rate of crime incidents per 100,000 people. Ontario was given a second place ranking, despite not earning the top spot in any of the seven factors.

With this news coming on the heels of another study that discovered three of the six best places to live in Canada with the best quality of life are in Ontario, we Ontarians should be feeling pretty proud — or maybe the more accurate feeling is confusion.

According to this study, Ontario ranked high for life expectancy, second behind British Columbia, with an expectancy of 82.41 from birth. The province took fifth spot for average hourly wage ($26.25) and was in sixth place for population growth within the last five years, at 9.64 per cent. And Ontario is apparently one of the safest places to live in Canada as well, with 4,425 incidents of crime per 100,000 residents, lower than every region with the exception of Quebec.

Ontario placed above British Columbia in third place, followed by Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Our province may not fare so well in affordability comparison (a recent study comparing what $1 million gets you in each city in Canada when it comes to housing certainly gave cities in Quebec and Alberta the upper hand), but hey, at least we’re lucky!
