By day, Woodlot Bakery and Restaurant serves coffee and pastries, made in plain view on a massive harvest table.
Later, when the lights are turned down, the table turns into a communal eating space, and two dinner menus — one for meat fanatics, the other for vegetarians — are brought out.
Woodlot is located smack in the heart of Little Italy, in the multilevel, open-concept space formerly occupied by the Octopus Lounge.
Chef David Hayman has done stints at Lucien, Noce and Czehoski.
The menu, explains team member Iva Druzik, strives to satisfy both meat eaters and vegetarians, with hearty herbivore fare such as tempeh pot pie with root vegetables and chantrelle mushroom lasagna with ricotta.
Woodlot is located at 293 Palmerston Ave., 647-342-6307.
