A Forest Hill plastic surgeon has been served a notice by the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons (OCPS). Dr. Sammy Sliwin was served the notice last month after a complaint was filed with the college.
“The college conducted an investigation, which resulted in the allegations contained in the notice,” said OCPS spokesperson Kathryn Clarke.
According to the notice, Sliwin is accused of professional misconduct pertaining to the alleged sexual abuse of a patient and an act that would “be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional.”
The complaint made to the OCPS was filed by Christy Harris. In 2009, Sliwin was the defendant in a $2.5 million lawsuit filed by Harris, who claimed she was a victim of sexual assault. Harris’s lawyer, Rose Leto, declined comment on the case.
Whether or not Sliwin will have his certificate of registration revoked will be decided at a disciplinary hearing, scheduled for next year. The exact date has not yet been set.
