Leslieville Cheese Market & Fine Foods, the popular gourmet food shop that first appeared on Queen East around six years ago, will be opening a fourth location later this month on Donlands Avenue.
When a deal for a franchise fell through, owner Michael Simpson said he couldn’t pass up on the rent and location, despite promising himself he wouldn’t open another store.
“Right now there isn’t much on the strip,” he says. “But there is a Fresh From the Farm and a Select Bakery.”
Simpson isn’t looking to compete with the other businesses, but hopes that with time Donlands Avenue will become known for its fresh food stores.
The new cheese market will be significantly smaller than the other stores. It will be a retail venue, selling products brought in from the other locations.
When asked if he has any more plans for expansion, Simpson insists that this will be his last store, but he is still open to selling franchises.
The new location is aiming for a March 15 opening.
