All the exciting new food at Rogers Centre just in time for opening day

Blue Jays fans get ready to celebrate — today is opening day! The Jays will face-off against the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon at a sold-out Busch Stadium. On April 11, fans will return to the new and improved Rogers Centre not just  to cheer on the boys in blue, but to enjoy some interesting new eats too.

Aramark Sports + Entertainment, the hospitality provider at nine Major League Baseball stadium, including the Rogers Centre, has announced that they are welcoming back fans with state-of-the-art ordering technology and a new lineup of new concession items that includes a hotdog topped with hash brown potatoes and … gravy?

“Our teams have been working through the offseason to develop menu creations and venue advancements that will deliver the memorable game day experiences that fans have come to expect, and we look forward to showcasing everything new that we have to offer,” said Alison Birdwell, President and CEO of Aramark in a statement.

For spring, the seasonal offering is a banh mi chicken sandwich, with halal ginger chicken, kimchi mayo, cucumber, pickled carrot and cilantro on a baguette which will be available at one of  the new outfield districts called The Stop and  part of a limited-edition food and beverage program called Seasons Inning Stretch which will offer new dishes that are catered to the season.

The three other brand new districts include The Catch, which will feature cocktails and small bites like mac & cheese and Montreal smoked meat and Cuban sandwiches. Park Social is a park within the park with games and food truck-style eats like bacon-pepper grilled cheese and milkshakes. The fourth district is the Corona Rooftop Patio. On offer: classic ballpark foods as well as an iconic Toronto staple, the pea meal bacon sandwich.

Rogers Centre will also become a new “hot dog headquarters” called Schneiders Porch, located in section 209.

Amtrak is also promising “elevated takes” on classic ballpark eats including  jerk chicken nachos with white corn tortilla chips and plantains covered in jerk chicken, pineapple pico, pineapple sour cream, green onions, and cheese sauce, and to satisfy your sweet tooth, peanut butter & jelly churros tossed in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with peanut butter and strawberry jam with fresh cut strawberries and nuts.

But, it’s the poutine dog that seems to be getting the most attention The classic Schneider hot  dog comes topped with hash brown potato, cheese curds and smothered in gravy.

Amtrak also plans on adding 13 new Mashgin units, which utilize AI-based  technology at the grab-and-go beer markets in sections 125 and 518.

The new concession stand items will be available on April 11 when the Jays take on the Detroit Tigers in the home opener.
