Toronto’s Queen Street West has a new spot for coffee and doughnuts and it’s perfect for anyone who’s tired of the usual café chat. I’m Mochi is here to keep things short and sweet —  literally. No need to smile at the barista or make awkward conversation. Here, it’s just you, a screen and a button.
Intrigued? Hit the button and your mochi donut slides through a mysterious hole in the wall. Perfect for introverts, everything is self-serve with zero human interaction. Just order on a screen and watch your treats appear like magic.

According to their website, I’m Mochi isn’t just about food — they “craft experiences.” Mochi doughnut flavours vary from sweet ube jelly, white chocolate pistachio, cookies n’ cream and chocolate Pocky to savoury picks like roasted soy bean, black sesame, matcha red bean and even cheesy seaweed.
When it comes to drinks, they’ve got the classics covered — Americanos, lattes, and loose-leaf tea. But the real showstopper? Those viral chocolate-cracking drinks in flavours like blueberry, strawberry, matcha, black sesame and ube. Never had one? The cup’s lined with frozen chocolate, and you give it a satisfying crack to mix in all that sweet goodness. For just 90 cents, you can add strawberry, matcha or ube foam to your drink. They also offer dairy-free options with soy, oat, and almond milk.
The shop’s aesthetic is a playful mix of soft and neon pink, with fluffy clouds adding a whimsical touch.
For those who experience social anxiety, I’m Mochi has you covered. Plus, they’re giving back — a portion of their profits goes to mental health charities, making your self-serve snack stop feel even better.
I’m Mochi is located at 677 Queen St W. They’re open Sunday to Thursday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to midnight.
