Illyria Design: T.O. style at Ottawa Fashion Week

First there was New York, then London and Paris, and now — Ottawa? That’s right. Our cousin to the east celebrated its third annual fashion week over the past weekend (so, it’s technically not a week, but who’s counting?). According to the Ottawa Citizen, over 2,000 Ottawans watched the show, which featured 18 international designers, both established and emerging, including Toronto’s Illyria Pestich, a graduate of Sheridan College. We break down Illyria Design’s Fall/Winter looks from the runway and where you can buy her feminine-mod clothing.

The trends: Sophisticated, bondage, silk, cut-outs, monochrome. It’s ultra-feminine but with an edge.

The colours: black, navy blue, purple. Think jewel-tones.

The looks: Pencil skirts, sweetheart necklines, dresses with hoods and pockets, back silhouettes. It’s like what the ladies of Mad Men would wear but even sexier.

Who would wear: Elegant women who don’t mind showing a little skin.

Where to buy: Pho Pa, 698 Queen Street, 416-979-9444; Shopgirls, 1342 Queen Street West, 416-534-7467
