Sunday will be the last day that Torontonians can redeem their burgers “one at a time” at The Burger’s Priest’s staple location in the Beaches. After nearly 14 years of flipping OG burgers at their tiny site at Queen and Coxwell, the fast-food giant announced that its closing its doors at 1636 Queen St. E—but only to move into a larger space.
“In 2010, we opened our first location in The Beach. A 350 square-foot place without much more than four stools, a small meat grinder, and a menu plastered on an old hymn board,” they announced in an Instagram post. “Well, we’ve finally outgrown this space so in the pursuit of burger redemption, we’re moving our OG location down the street. Come say bye to our original location before Sunday.”
The new location will open on Wednesday, March 6 at 1922 Queen Street East, taking over the former Friends Burgers location that closed in late 2023. The move slides the purveyors of fine flattop burgers further east into the Beaches neighbourhood just past Woodbine Avenue with decidedly more foot traffic, but without the benefit of having a movie theatre, and the History Toronto concert venue across the street to ensure a steady stream of post-show customers.

Since opening their staple location in 2010, The Burger’s Priest has opened 27 other locations across Ontario, with nine locations in the city of Toronto. Looking at the reaction from social media, there will still be some nostalgia surrounding their staple shop.
As one Redditor noted, “Man, my friends and I used to drive to Toronto (from Niagara) just to go to the OG location. We’d come up every few months to get a burger.”
