Ice Ice Baby at Queen West hipster hotspot

If you’ve ever felt the desire to experience the culture of Iceland, but are more into taking baby steps, the Drake Hotel is your logical destination from March 17 to 20. The hipster haven is hosting A Taste of Iceland featuring food, music, film and art from the land of 24-hour summer sunshine.

The Iceland-inspired menu was created in collaboration with Thorarinn Eggertsson (a.k.a. Chef Thor) and Anthony Rose, the Drake’s own chef. It will feature such items as gray duck, reindeer and salted cod.

Chef Thor plies his trade at the restaurant Orange in bustling downtown Reykjavik. The restaurant was featured in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2009 Hot Tables list.

In addition to culinary adventure, the festival also features icelandic musician Mugison, who will play free shows on Friday and Saturday night. There will also be public film screens and Hrafnhildur Arnardottir’s latest art installation will be on display.
