Home prices jump in North York

Homeowners living in Willowdale and the Bridle Path are getting about $50,000 more for their homes this year compared to 2008.

The average home sold for $50,364 more than it did two years ago in Willowdale, up to $430,131, and homes in the Bridle Path sold for $49,000 more, up to $1,315,088.

“Double-digit average annual price growth will continue through the first quarter of 2010 as sales remain high relative to listings and we continue to make comparisons to last year’s winter downturn,” said Jason Mercer, Toronto Real Estate Board’s (TREB) senior manager of market analysis.

In the first two weeks of January, existing home sales nearly doubled compared to the same time period in 2009.
