The first inaugural Filipino Restaurant Month kicks off on April 1, with the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) and the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary coming together to create a new culinary experience for Canadians. The month-long celebration will allow foodies across the country to experience Filipino cuisine in a brand new way.
In Toronto, one of the most diverse cities in the world, many Filipino restaurants are participating in the festivities, with prix fixe menus and dining experiences alike available for fans of traditional dishes like Adobo and Kamayan finger foods. The list of restaurants is long, and the offerings are so tempting that just reading them induces mouthwatering. From Kanto (the first Filipino street food restaurant in Toronto) to CASA Manila, some of the city’s most popular Filipino eateries are taking part. As an added bonus, there are prizes involved, ranging from restaurant gift cards to vacations to the Philippines.
“The unique variety of Filipino food, ingredients, chefs, and restaurants throughout Canada” will be at the forefront of the menus, according to a press release about the festival. “Filipino food is integral to the country’s diverse culture with each region having their own unique and traditional recipes that are passed on from generation to generation.”
