Rooster Coffee House expands to King Street East

After opening in the east end in late 2009, Rooster Coffee House quickly became a neighborhood institution. And now, just over three years later, owners Shawn Andrews and Dave Watson are opening a second location at 333 King Street East.

The new café is expected to open by April 1, and it will share much in common with its predecessor: it will continue to use coffee from Te Aro (now known as Pilot Coffee Roasters) and it will continue to showcase suppliers from as close to the neighbourhood as possible.

Still, Andrews and Watson are going with a different espresso machine this time around (a Synesso Hydra, rather than a La Marzocco). The new location will also have a more prominent focus on food, and it will also feature a rotating selection of “guest coffee roasters” to keep things fresh.

It’s a solid addition to the neighbourhood, and good news for the George Brown students nearby.
