Forget smash burgers, Etobicoke’s got something new on the grill. Elijah’s Automatic Flame Broiled, the brainchild of The Burger’s Priest founder Shant Mardirosian, is opening its doors later this week in Etobicoke. Mardirosian is back, reigniting his passion for flame-broiled burgers with a menu that’s all about in-house butchered and ground meats, flame-kissed to perfection.
The star of the show is the Automatic — a 6-ounce, flame-broiled burger topped with ketchup, mustard, pickle and onion. Add bacon for an extra kick.
“I love a smash burger like everyone else, but often wish there was a great, flame-broiled quick service burger option in the fresh ground category,” says Mardirosian. “I grew up in Los Angeles, and often think about those classic roadside burger stands and their distinctive taste. So, I’ve spent the last few years cracking the code to the perfect, tasty, juicy flame-broiled burger.”
The menu is tight and focused, featuring beef fat fries, chili cheese fries, charred chicken sandwiches and more. Don’t miss the flame-broiled sweet potato stuffed with gooey cheddar.

For dessert, Elijah’s serves up Toronto’s beloved Harry and Heels donuts — also created by Mardirosian — starting at 9 a.m. Pair them with a soft serve, float, milkshake or cone for a real treat.
Elijah’s, set in a former law office, is a moody, candlelit space with stained glass windows and flickering neon signs — classic L.A. meets old-school church vibes. It’s not your typical burger joint, offering a unique, inviting atmosphere. The spot seats 40 inside, with room for another 12 on the patio.
“These burgers are the best I’ve ever made and recall the nostalgia of a classic, 80’s burger spot,” adds Mardirosian. “The best ingredients are executed with the simplicity they deserve. We’re excited for people to come to Elijah’s when they’re craving a change from the ubiquitous smash burger.”
Elijah’s Automatic Flame Broiled is located at 821 The Queensway. Swing by at 9 a.m. for donuts, or from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for the full menu.
