A bougie new restaurant is opening inside a celeb favourite hotel in Toronto

As if the Ritz Carton, Toronto wasn’t swanky enough, a new restaurant is set to transform the lobby into a vibrant Northern Italian escape. Opening this fall, Lano isn’t just another café and wine bar. It’s a sleek all-day hot spot bringing a taste of Milan’s elegance to Toronto’s upscale crowd.

“Lano’s varied offerings and inviting atmosphere will enhance our existing culinary options, meeting the expectations of both our local community and hotel guests,” says Guillaume Benezech, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto.

A nod to Milano, Lano pays homage to Northern Italy’s rich culture with a menu as dynamic as its surroundings. Guided by executive sous chef Ignatius Prinsloo and Milan-native chef Alessandro Panattoni, this café and wine bar promises a culinary journey from morning coffee to evening wine indulgences. Expect everything from the rich aroma of freshly brewed espresso and flaky pastries to a selection of 30 premium Italian wines and traditional cocktails.

Designed by Chapi Chapo Design, the venue is said to capture the essence of European elegance with a touch of Toronto’s urban charm. Think sleek furniture, refined lighting and an atmosphere that blends modern sophistication with classic warmth.  It promises to be the perfect spot for anything and everything, whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee, enjoying a leisurely lunch with fresh salads and antipasti or sipping a pre-theatre glass of wine.

“We envisioned a chic culinary stop that seamlessly fits into the fast-paced lifestyle of the city. The design draws inspiration from European aesthetics, offering a refined atmosphere where guests can enjoy a quick yet delightful experience,” said Tatiana Sheveleva, Partner of Chapi Chapo Design.

The Ritz-Carlton’s roster features Toca and Epoch Bar + Kitchen Terrace. Now, Lano is joining the lineup. Whether you’re after a quick espresso or a full meal, this new spot aims to be the fresh, dynamic addition Toronto didn’t know it needed.

Lano opens its doors in September 2024, right alongside The Ritz-Carlton Toronto’s fresh new look, complete with a chicly redesigned lobby.
