Drink This: the Mideastro II

Mideastro’s Yorkville location is about to blow out the candles on its second birthday. There, chef Benny Cohen turns out eats such as shrimp falafel and saffron-infused fish tagine, drawing influences from the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.

In honour of the birthday, bartender Ilanit Kamenetsky has put together a special drink available at both Mideastro locations throughout October. The celebratory ’tail starts off with some muddled chili and lime, which is then shaken with limoncello over ice. After being strained, the goods are topped with Italian vino Brachetto d’Acqui and a splash of bitter orange Aperol.

Served in a flute, the elegant bevvy is finished with a sliced chili pepper, making for a drink that’s slightly bitter with a hint of a bite.
