If you swing by Oddseoul late on a Tuesday eve, don’t expect the scene to be low-key. Communal tables are rammed as patrons chow down on eats from mash-up maestros Leemo and Leeto Han (think bulgogi cheesesteak and squash poutine). Music is loud, conversation is lively and drinks are a-flowing.
The boozy side of things reflects the mix-and-match nature of the food menu. Seoul nightlife staples soju and makgeolli — soju’s just-as-potent cousin — are poured out alongside cocktails that pinch off inspiration from non-Korean cuisines.
We fell for the Spanish Harlem ($11). It blends Tromba Blanco tequila with house-made jasmine-chili syrup and some lime juice, with a slice of chili pepper punctuating the surface, readying the imbiber for a bit of a kick.
