Celebrated Toronto chef Susur Lee is taking a second crack at the Big Apple. According to a press release, he will be running an upcoming restaurant at the new One World Trade Center. The restaurant’s name has yet to be revealed, but it will serve modern Chinese food, and it will be part of a members-only club on the building’s 66th floor (which means dashed hopes for the general public).
This is Lee’s sophomore attempt at bringing his cuisine to New York following the 2011 closure of Shang. Prior to Shang’s closure, Lee had attributed his troubles in New York to the city’s lack of adventurous spirit towards food.
For his sake, let’s hope that the city’s attitude has changed by the time the new restaurant opens in 2015.
