With rising prices in Toronto, eating out is getting harder. High rent and grocery costs mean people are cutting back. But, there’s a spot in the GTA that just launched a budget-friendly $13 prix fixe menu, offering delicious and affordable option to grab a bite this winter season.
Fox and Fiddle Cityplace on Fort York Boulevard ‘s new affordable menu includes old favourites and new additions like the smash burger, beer-battered fish & chips, mac n’ cheese, Guinness pot pie, pierogies and a variety of sliders.
“We invite you to step out of your routines and enjoy well deserved moments of relaxation and fun again, without worrying about the bill. It’s a call to feel human again, to socialize, and to enjoy great food at fair prices,” reads the restaurant’s Instagram post.
There are a bunch of other restaurants in the city offering affordable menu items for $15 and under.
Aunt Lucy’s Burgers

Toronto loves a good burger. Located in Parkdale, Aunt Lucy’s is serving up delicious smash burgers, priced at $15 an under. Choose from the fan favourite Labadi burger ($13) named after the popular beach in Ghana. A Beyond patty comes topped with fried plantain, caramelized onion, havarti jalapeño cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and a secret Labadi sauce all between a potato bun. If burgers aren’t your thing, opt for the fired chicken ($15) or fried chicken sandwich ($13) plus, choose from a number of delicious sides, including fried plantain and rice.
Banh Mi Boys

Everything on Banh Mi Boys’ menu is affordable, priced under $12. From tasty steamed bao at $6.25 to Banh mi options like pulled pork at $9.50 or deep-fried squid rings with lime vinaigrette and mayo at $11, topped with cucumbers, pickled carrots, and cilantro. They also offer tacos and fries, including tempting tofu kimchi fries with mayo, lemongrass tofu, spicy Asian BBQ sauce, green onions, and kimchi for $11.50.
La Chilaca Taqueira
Kensington Market is filled with amazing restaurants, and La Chilaca is a standout. It’s one of several Latin American food stalls tucked away in a small “food court” in Kensington Market. The staff are warm and friendly. And the smell of sizzling meat and fresh churros lingers in the air. The busy “food court” perfectly embodies the essence of Kensington Market. Make your way to Lamanna’s Bakery in Scarborough for delicious eats that won’t break the bank. Enjoy generous portions of beef and veggie lasagna for just $10.99 each. Indulge in veal or chicken cutlets, covered in a rich tomato sauce, priced at $8.25 each. Complete your Italian feast with classic Italian mushrooms and peppers for $3.99 or meatballs for $2.99.
The Heartbreak Chef

Craving chicken and waffles for just $15? Head to Dundas St. West and discover The Heartbreak Chef, Jerome Robinson’s comfort food haven. Their menu boasts dishes priced at $15 and under, such as The Big Ass Chicken Sandwich for $12, The Big Jerk Energy Sandwich for $15 and the Mac & Charlie sandwich, featuring their signature five-cheese blend creamy macaroni and cheese stuffed inside a grilled cheese.
