Five songs we really want Barbra Streisand to sing at her upcoming ACC concert

Babs is coming back to town. The incomparable Barbra Streisand will be performing her second-ever Toronto concert at The Air Canada Centre on Oct. 23. Though we’ll have to check out her infamous manicured fingernails at the show, it’s her legendary pipes that we’re most excited about. Here are five of the songs we hope Streisand belts out.

Don’t Rain On My Parade

Streisand won the Best Actress Academy Award for her portrayal as the vaudeville-turned-Ziegfeld Follies-star, Fanny Brice. And contrary to what some Gleeks may tell you, there is only one Funny Girl. “Hello, gorgeous,” indeed.

The Way We Were

Everyone remembers where they were when they first watched the tear-filled, romantic epic of the same name, starring Streisand and the hunky, Brad Pitt-ish Robert Redford. If you haven’t, we won’t give away the movie’s premise but just a hint: if your boyfriend says it’s the “perfect ending," that’s a major red flag.

Evergreen

The poster from A Star is Born makes us swoon, let alone the idea of a Svengali-like rock star (played by Kris Kristofferson) worshipping the ground we walk on. Who cares if he’s washed up? He’s got washboard abs and a “love soft as an easy chair.”

No More Tears (Enough is Enough)

We don’t think we’re the only ones who wish there’d be a Donna Summer hologram making an appearance to sing this jivin’ love anthem. That, or a disco ball time machine.

Woman in Love

There’s nothing like a woman in love. And nothing like taking a bath with your Bee Gee, cleaning his fingernails one by one, in a bathroom surrounded by candles on top of beer cans.
