Daan Go Father's Day

5 Toronto bakeries to score some yummy treats for Father’s Day

With Father’s Day taking place this Sunday, June 18, bakeries around the city are busy creating sweet treats to mark the occasion. Here are our top five picks for some sweet treats for the father or father figure in your life!

Galerie au Chocolat

This Canadian gourmet chocolate retailer has a flavour for every kind of chocolate lover. There are even healthier, stevia-based chocolates under the brand Liesse Chocolatier for the health-conscious dad with a sweet tooth. For Father’s Day, different-sized boxes of assorted chocolate are available, pre-packaged and wrapped like the gift they are. They range from $13.05 to $21.57, and can be combined with other items.

Bite Me Cookie

This home-based cookie delivery service is serving up a sweet treat for dads with their very own giant Cookie Pizza! Affectionately nicknamed the Quattro Stagioni (after the popular four-topping pizza), dads can take their pick of “toppings” from sweet indulgences that include Mini Eggs, Hershey’s Cookies N’ Creme bits, Reese’s Pieces, white or dark chocolate and more! Priced at $30, the Cookie Pizza serves between four and six people. All orders must be placed by Friday, June 17 at noon, and deliveries can be scheduled for June 17, 18, and 19.

Ruelo Patisserie

For dads looking for something a bit more bougie, Ruelo Patisserie is offering a Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea Take Out Set ($120). Forget the mini cucumber and egg salad sandwiches– this version of high tea comes on a three-tier stand filled with dad-approved sweet and savoury snacks that include wagyu burger, lobster quiche, parma ham & Gruyère sandwich, cream cheese and truffle choux, and scones with homemade jam and clotted cream. For dessert, the set includes a mini cigar made from dark chocolate bonbon, a mini hat made from milk chocolate mousse with lava praline, a mini pecan tart and a macaron. For extra fancy dads, there’s even an option to add caviar for $50.

Le Dolci

Located in The Junction, Le Dolci is both a bakery and a classroom. Their Father’s Day cupcakes (starting at $29) are sold in packs of six and are offered in chocolate or vanilla and done in a Swiss meringue buttercream. There is also a signature Father’s Day cake ($55) that is made using a chocolate cake base that is layered with chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake can feed between 12 and 15 people. Both desserts can be delivered across Toronto and the GTA.

Daan Go Cake Lab

Daan Go Cake Lab has two special desserts on offer for Father’s Day. Their “#1 Dad” cake ($45) features a light and fluffy Pistachio Mousse, orange caramel and nougat creme set on a crunchy baklava base. The cake, which serves six, is topped with a gold trophy and a fun “dad macaron” that dons glasses and a moustache. The cake is available from June 15 to June 26 while supplies last. If cake isn’t your dad’s thing, Daan Go Cake Lab is also selling moustache cookie sandwiches ($8.25)! They can be eaten straight from the fridge or frozen, and feature biscoff cookie butter mousse, a creamy vanilla namelaka centre, and chocolate chip-inspired dacquoise, sandwiched between a chocolate cookie and rolled in a buttery graham cracker mixture.
