Direct from Florence, Toronto is now the new home to Italian cafĂ©, Ditta Artigianale. Located on Richmond St. W., on the ground floor of the Harlowe Condominium, the roaster fondly referred to as “Ditta” is known to have introduced specialty coffee to the Italian people and makes this the company’s first international location.
Francesco Sanapo launched Ditta in 2013 alongside Patrick Hoffer, a fellow coffee expert and entrepreneur. Focused on building real relationships with producers and utilizing special roasting techniques, the pair have achieved their goals of creating unique coffee experiences that prioritize quality beyond the final product. And now, you can experience their years of hard work in the city.
The forty seat cafe currently serves coffee and pastries and is expected to expand to signature cocktails, brunch and shareable plates in the near future. Upon entering, guests will be transported to Florence as the cafe’s design mimics the design elements found in the cafĂ©’s four Florence locations.
“To us, coffee is more than just a beverage. It’s an art, carefully crafted by a team of producers and artisans along the way,” said Francesco Sanapo, Founder of Ditta Artigianale. “It’s always been our goal to bring the Ditta Artigianale experience of high-quality and sustainable coffee beyond our humble home of Firenze, and Toronto’s diverse food and beverage scene made it a natural place to put down international roots.”
For Ditta, curation defines their newest Toronto space. Elements of the new location were carefully selected in partnership with q-bic, a Florence-based design team and our very own team from the six, The Design Agency. With Italian-made brass handles, fashionably custom three-pull espresso machines, and details galore, Torontonians are expected to feel completely submerged in the Italian lifestyle.
Their current coffee menu highlights a variety of special coffees with unique blends. However, coming soon are brunch classics like avocado toast and ricotta pancakes. For an Italian feel, take a healthy bite into their crostini or panzella salad. If you’re in need of a bit of a post-work unwind, you’ll soon be able to sip on an Italian Negroni made with artisanal gin which is exclusive to Ditta Artigianale.
Ditta Artigianale is located at 612 Richmond Street W., and is open at 7:00 a.m. seven days a week.
