It seems like every week there’s a new American retailer that wants to claim a piece of Canada’s fashion turf. Following on the heels of J. Crew, Marshalls and Intermix, Target just recently announced its Toronto locations. Now the newest kid on the block is American clothing chain Express, which is set to open five new stores across Canada this year, Flare reports, with the first Toronto store opening in September at Fairview Mall.
Canadians have been shopping online (and across the border) for years to buy clothes from this popular U.S. brand. Express is best described as a blend of Zara’s chic work separates, the Gap’s basic essentials and a bit of BCBG’s glamour. The store is also noted for its large denim collection that features cuts and washes suited for every taste and body type.
All clothes are designed at the Express Design Studio located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, so expect a New York City-worthy opening this fall. Rumour has it that big name celebrities will be on hand to ring in the festivities. Celebrities like musician Jessie J and actresses Hayden Panettiere and Sophia Bush have been known to wear Express clothing, so we can’t wait to see who will drop by and what’s in store for Toronto’s newest fashion addition.
