Expect a frenzy: Marni drops at H&M tomorrow

Expect queues at H&M stores around Toronto tomorrow, when the chain launches its collaboration with Italian fashion label Marni.

Marni is known for its quirky elegance, and combines structural pieces with unexpected textiles. The capsule line already has fashionistas' tongues wagging with its instant "it" status brought about by Academy Award nominee Sophia Coppola’s short promotional film featuring British actress Imogene Poots. Coppola’s dreamy style brings the collection of bold separates, posh dresses and extravagant accessories to life with lingering shots of the clothes and the kind of woman who wears them. โ€จโ€จโ€จ

While Marni may not be a household name, it is near and dear to the hearts of anyone with a nose for fashion. The label started with furs but quickly expanded into an aesthetic that combines luxury with quirky chic. The same style can be found in its H&M collection, which is expected to be one of its most successful yet, despite the brand's relative obscurity in the mass market.

The collection features PVC shirts, polka dots and a few blinding colours, but for a man or woman with fashion guts the clothes are surprisingly wearable. They may even get you stopped on the street.

Not to worry though, the collection is limited edition. While it may not last on the shelves it will last a lifetime in your closet.
