EVOO Ristorante

A popular Yorkville restaurant shutters its doors as an Indian eatery takes its place

EVOO Ristorante, an adored eatery in the heart of Yorkville’s “Little Italy,” has closed and will soon reopen as Adrak Restaurant & Bar. EVOO Ristorante was known for serving notable celebrities, many of whom visited annually during TIFF festivities, and was a neighbourhood favourite.

Adrak Hospitality Group acquired the business from owner Peter Catarino and will be turning the restaurant into a fine-dining South Asian restaurant and bar. Adrak Restaurant & Bar is not new to the restaurant scene. They have served Toronto from their Richmond Hill location for years and are now expanding to Yorkville. The owner of Adrak, Ambica Jain, alludes that the new location is looking to open its doors near the end of the year, right in time for the holidays.

Jain shares that many Indian restaurants in the city focus on the cuisine of northern India alone and develop quick versions of meals that traditionally take hours to cook from scratch. Instead, Adrak spends days creating his spices and flavours in-house. “The new Adrak on Avenue is a more upscale, fine dining twist in comparison to our Richmond Hill location,” says Jain. “It’s authentic Anglo-Indian cuisine made fresh and not for quick consumption.”

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a modern take on Indian cuisine, patio reservations and takeout are available at their Richmond Hill location to hold you over until the big Yorkville opening.
