If you find yourself spending the Labour Day weekend in the city, Street Eats Market is planning a night market food event that might just make your cottage-going friends jealous.
From Sept. 5 to 6, the event group is hosting an internationally-themed night market at Scarborough Town Centre.
Street Eats Market has already hosted a number of physically-distanced food events this summer, including a drive-through food truck festival in June and, more recently, ice cream and barbecue-centered events.
The two-day Eats Night Market event will feature more than 15 food vendors, as well as live music performances. On the savoury side, Chen Chen’s Hot Chicken will be cooking up Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, while Basil Box will be serving torched lemongrass chicken and Manila meatballs, among other Asian-influenced dishes.

For those with a sweet tooth, Sweet Slice TO will be serving cheesecake on a stick. Other confirmed vendors include Fugo Desserts, Jerk Brothers, and Tinuno.
Physical distancing measures will be in effect for the outdoor event, with the vendors spaced out by 10 feet and flagged markers on the grass providing a guideline for queuing. For seating, circles will be drawn on the grass and there are also well-spaced picnic tables.
Hand sanitizer stations will be found throughout the space, and staff will be wiping down high touch point areas frequently.
Admission to Eats Night Market is free. It will take place from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Scarborough Town Centre this weekend.
