The city’s latest hotspot for Thai cuisine is Church Street’s Sabai Sabai. Inside, against a hodgepodge of memorabilia from the motherland, chef Nuit Regular’s patrons mow down on lesser-seen Thai favourites such as morning glory stir-fry and fried fish in tamarind sauce.
A short but sweet cocktail list also pays homage to eastern flavours. We sipped on the so-called Thai mojito. Available by the glass or the pitcher ($8/$32), the beverage layers lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, mint and coconut sugar syrup with Appleton Estate dark rum.
With Songkran — a.k.a. Thai New Year — right around the corner, this is a way to celebrate that doesn't involve water fights (not that we're opposed to the idea).
