Toronto’s Twitter-mill was on overdrive this morning when rumours surfaced that David Chang, chef and owner of New York’s Momofuku restaurant group, could be making his way to Toronto by 2012. Well, we didn’t have to wait until Monday to find out. A Momofuku spokesperson confirmed the speculation Friday night that not one, but two Momofuku restaurants will be opening in Toronto by 2012.
Details in the email are sparse, but apparently the two restaurants will be located in a building next to the upcoming Shangri-La Hotel. “We are building a Noodle Bar concept on the first floor and a second restaurant (in the same building on another floor) called Momofuku Daisho,” the email states, though we have a feeling that just about everyone in the city received the same email.
Now that this whole thing has been cleared up, we’re just glad we can go back to being excited about other things, like the upcoming Guu SakaBar. Until next year, of course.
