Little Italy has been on the upswing as of late, with restaurants like Acadia, Woodlot and Frank’s Kitchen having set up shop in the area over the last few years. Still, College Street appears to have just lost one of its more interesting dining options: Live and Breathe.
We weren’t immediately able to get in touch with the owner, but L.A.B.’s answering machine responds with the following message: “Dear patrons: all good things come to an end, and unfortunately, so too has L.A.B. We are officially closing our doors at this location.”
Known for its forays in molecular gastronomy, L.A.B. opened in 2010 as a project by Howard Dubrovsky. The restaurant had achieved some critical success, and its recent venture into brunch terriroty was also well received.
According to Dubrovsky’s Twitter account, the restaurant’s final night was March 11.
It’s a sad loss for the neighbourhood, but we’ll be keeping an eye on Dubrovsky and the space to see what lies ahead.
