Forget Comic Con, because Anime North is heading into Toronto this month, and it’s a big deal. Anime is a style of Japanese film and television animation, and this is Canada’s biggest anime event. It all goes down May 24 to 26 at the Toronto Congress Centre. Whether you’re a fan of anime or not, the entertainment will be sure to amaze.

Illuminair Entertainment will be on hand with its cosplay circus show — think Cirque du Soleil meets anime. Cosplay is the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book or video game. Illuminair combines cosplay with contemporary circus, and is choreographed by and for fans of anime. The group’s shows are based on series such as Pokémon, Sailor Moon, The Legend of Korra and Overwatch.
