British designer Oliver Spencer has opened his first Canadian shop, bringing his utilitarian-style menswear to Toronto.
For a designer who is all about details, the colourful Queen West area was a natural home for his unique brand, says owner Jeremy Logan.
The space is designed to echo an old classroom, he says, adorned with desks and test tubes. Looks in the current fall/winter collection are peasant-inspired, echoing the 1600s and 1700s. In addition to Spencer’s line, the shop carries Quoddy, a brand of shoes that are handmade in Maine, and Il Bussetto, a brand of leather wallets.
With the holiday season upon us, Logan says Oliver Spencer’s beautiful sweaters and scarves are great gift options.
Right next door is Ruins, a boutique that is also relatively new to the Queen West neighbourhood.
