Toronto’s Best Buffalo Wings

Chef and Buffalo native Mark McEwan and Toronto Argonauts running back and former Buffalo Bills player James Wilder Jr. weigh in on the best place for authentic Buffalo wings in Toronto.

From crispy skin to perfect buttery Buffalo sauce, these are the clear winners. “Now this is a real Buffalo wing!” said Mark. “The spice level is perfect, it has a little kick to it, but the flavour is definitely there,” said James. (890 Yonge St., $14 per lb.)
These fiery flyers were given high praise by our judges. “There’s some heat there and a lot of flavour. They’re definitely not too mild,” said James of these buttery-hot Buffalo wings. (362 Bloor St. W., $12.99 per lb.)
Finding the perfect wing is not an easy feat. “These ones definitely look like they have some sweetness to them,” said James of the darker colour wings. After tasting, he noted, the flavour was “almost soy glazed or Asian inspired.” (1988 Avenue Rd., $15.95 per lb.)
The quintessential Buffalo wing is all about the happy medium between heat and flavour. “I like that this one has a good mix of sweet and spicy,” said James of these hot ones. (2497 Yonge St., $12.95 per lb.)
A Buffalo wing doesn’t need to blow your socks off, but heat is necessary for our favourite Super Bowl snacks. Mark noted that these wings are “very mild.” Though tasty, they didn’t quite hit the spot. (636 Dixon Rd., $13.99 per lb.)
