Four themed dance parties to rave about in Toronto this month

Everyone’s rave-ing about being a dancing queen this summer! There are dance parties happening all across Toronto, so whether you’re a fan of Queen or One Direction, there’s something for everyone. Here are four spectacular dance parties happening in the city this month.

Shake it off with a Taylor Swift dance party

On June 9, The Taylor Party, an unsurprisingly popular Taylor Swift Night tour, is coming to Danforth Music Hall. This tour travelled across North America last year, and it’s back this year — with the first event happening in Toronto! Dress in your favourite era for themed photos ops and dance and sing your heart out with your Swiftie friends (or come alone and make some superfan friends of your own!). If you couldn’t get tickets to Taylor’s era tour, this is your chance to immerse yourself in the music: if the photos of past parties are any indication, it’s going to be like being at a concert with the massive crowds and blasting music — just without Taylor herself onstage.

Bask in nostalgia at a One Direction-themed event

Also on June 9, One Direction fans can revel in the heyday of 1D fandom with a dance party that’s going to be part-celebration of Niall Horan’s new album and part- good old fashioned One Direction dance party, complete with hits from Up All Night all the way to the singers’ more recent solo career albums. The viral 1D Dance Party is being revived for one night only for this event, so you won’t want to miss it — head to Isabelle’s at 6 p.m. for a special listening party of Niall Horan’s new album, with surprises for guests and first access to officially licensed Niall Horan merch. Then, from 7 p.m. on, get ready to dance, sing and maybe cry to your favourite One Direction tunes.

Unleash your inner monster at a Lady Gaga party

The Moonlight Lounge will be transformed into a Lady Gaga dance party.

In honour of pride, Popscotch Events is hosting a dance party on June 15 dedicated to gay icon Lady Gaga and all her greatest hits. Happening at the Midnight Lounge, the DJ will be spinning hit after hit from the pop sensation, from “Poker Face” to “Born This Way.” The space will be transformed into Gaga heaven, with decorations, a photo booth and some exciting themed cocktails, such as the Gaga Glam Martini and Paparazzi Passion Punch.

Become a dancing queen at an ABBA and Queen party

On June 16, Lee’s Palace will transform into a joint ABBA and Queen concert for Dancing Queen X ABBA. Whether you’re a Mamma Mia! stan, lover of Freddie Mercury, an ABBA lover or just someone who loves to dance and belt their heart out, head to the concert venue for a experience where you can be both the audience and the performer! Sing along, dance along and get your fill of ABBA and Queen songs for the night among fans.
