An underground food market is coming to Toronto and everything is $7 or less

Toronto boasts a lineup of iconic food markets, and here comes another one to join the ranks.

Coming up next month, The Underground Market by Street Eats will make its mark at Evergreen Brickworks, featuring live entertainment and a diverse array of dishes from over 30 vendors – all available at a pocket-friendly price of $7.

This adults-only event is organized by the creators of Toronto’s popular Mac and Cheese Festival. The fest is dedicated to providing a stage for aspiring food enthusiasts, chefs and home cooks to flaunt and experiment with their flavour-packed creations. It’s a chance to dive into dishes you may have never tried or even heard of, all without burning a hole in your wallet.

To keep the festivities rolling, the event will showcase a variety of craft brews, spirits and wines.

Drawing inspiration from Toronto’s inaugural underground food market over a decade ago, known as TUM (Toronto Underground Market) attendees bought a ticket for entry, gaining access to explore various vendors, each offering tempting creations priced at around $5 per food item.

As per The Street Eats Market website, the initial fest played a pivotal role in “catapulting the careers” of some of Toronto’s renowned chefs.

So, when you’re sampling food at the event, you might just be savouring creations from a future culinary star!

Mark your calendars for the foodie extravaganza on February 24 and March 23, happening from 6 to 11 p.m. Snag your spot by purchasing tickets for $7 per person starting January 24.
