Dancap Productions is recruiting the best of Toronto’s wayward, suburban punks for one of its next musicals. Think you fit the bill?
The company held a press conference yesterday announcing an open casting call for Green Day‘s American Idiot, which Dancap is bringing to the Toronto Centre for the Arts in Dec. 2011. The casting call is scheduled for March 26.
American Idiot, based on Green Day’s classic 2004 album, has been playing on Broadway since last spring, pulling in some pretty ecstatic reviews. Charles Isherwood of the New York Times called it "thrillingly raucous and gorgeously wrought."
It’s pretty standard Green Day, according to Isherwood’s review, involving a precocious group of disenchanted youth who battle love, rage, teen angst and life in the dreaded suburbs the only way they know how: sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.
