After 18 years, Ambassador Chinese Cuisine calls it quits

One of GTA’s best-loved Chinese restaurants closed its doors for the last time yesterday, after nearly two decades in business. Richmond Hill’s Ambassador Chinese Cuisine confirmed the closure on its website and over the phone, but no reason has yet been given.

In the May 2006 issue of Post City Magazines, veteran food critic Joanne Kates called Ambassador her “absolute number one favourite Chinese restaurant.” She went on to say that “the hot and sour soup is divinely piquant” and that the Hong Kong-style consommé is “deeply tasty.”

No word yet on what will take Ambassador’s place.
